Overlay & Screenshot Features
The nunq overlay provides multiple ways to capture context from your screen and send it directly to the AI. This allows you to ask questions about anything visible on your desktop without switching applications.
The Floating Action Button
The floating action button is your always-accessible entry point to nunq. It appears as a small, movable button on top of all your applications. Click it to open the nunq chat panel, or right-click it to access additional actions.
You can reposition the button by dragging it to any edge of your screen.
Full Screenshot Capture
Capture your entire screen and send it as context to the AI:
- Click the floating action button or use the configured keyboard shortcut.
- Select the full screenshot option.
- The screenshot is attached to your current conversation, and you can immediately ask questions about what is on your screen.
Selection Screenshot
Capture a specific region of your screen:
- Trigger the selection screenshot via the action button or keyboard shortcut.
- Click and drag to select the area you want to capture.
- The selected region is sent to the AI as an image attachment.
This is useful when you want to focus the AI on a particular part of your screen, such as an error message, a chart, or a section of a document.
Text Selection
Highlight text in any application and send it to nunq:
- Select text in any application as you normally would.
- Use the configured keyboard shortcut or context menu to send the selected text to nunq.
- The text is inserted into your conversation as context.
This works across most desktop applications including browsers, editors, and office software.
Live Window Content Extraction
nunq can extract content directly from the active window, going beyond simple screenshots to pull structured text when possible. This provides higher-quality context for the AI compared to image-based capture.
Application-Aware Context
nunq detects which application you are currently using and can tailor its behavior accordingly. The AI receives information about the active application, which helps it provide more relevant responses. For example, if you are working in a spreadsheet application, the AI understands that context when you ask a question.
One-Time Context vs. Live Mode
When capturing context, you can choose between two modes:
- One-time context: The captured content is sent once and used for the current query. This is the default behavior.
- Live mode: The captured content is continuously updated as your screen changes. This is useful for ongoing assistance while you work through a task.
Quick Access Context Menu
Right-click the floating action button to access a context menu with quick actions:
- Start a new conversation
- Take a screenshot (full or selection)
- Send selected text
- Toggle live mode
- Open settings
